'selfportrait with thistle' 2025
Wall Object | wax on cardboard81 x 86 x 5cm
In this self-portrait, the artist stands in quiet stillness. Her hands hold a thistle-shaped object, reminiscent of an instrument or a medical listening device. The thistle, traditionally a symbol of resilience, determination, and strength, is subtly transformed: where roots might have been, a funnel extends. The part of the plant meant to anchor downward instead reaches outward, connecting the thistle, the listener, and the work itself to its surroundings.
