At the centre of the installation is a fountain made through various glass techniques. A glass cast of the artist’s ear leads to a pâte-de-verre funnel, surrounded by the words ‘ear to ear’ engraved into a sheet of cathedral glass. Water flows through the ear and out of the funnel into a pool of entangled rubber tubes. Once washed through the entangled chaos, the water returns to the ear.
In addition to the fountain, the installation includes two funnels made of kiln-fired mirrors, connected through even more rubber tubes. Through the firing process, the silver in the mirror oxidised, taking on an almost skin-like, powdery quality.
